Dell Brings Back XP

Dell is bringing back Windows XP as an option for customers after they complained about not wanting to be stuck with Vista.

I had a related problem earlier this year when I needed to buy several HP PCs for the company I work for (on a tight budget, unfortunately). At one point I need one immediately (by the next day) and all the major retail stores were mainly carrying PCs with Windows XP Media Edition, which can't be upgraded to XP Pro. I ended up finding CDW, which has next-day shipping and a variety of operating systems (mostly XP Pro, which suited me perfectly). They also have great customer support but their prices seem a bit higher than others. Other options were Direct Dial, who's support page sadly consists of a list of links to manufacturers'websites, and Frontier PC. All three have a selection far superior to places like Future Shop and Best Buy, though.

More Canadians Shopping Online - CBC

According to a CBC article, Statistics Canada has reported that last year saw a 40% increase in online sales for Canadian companies. 68% of that was from business-to-business sales, though.

Canadian retail shoppers don't have enough shops to choose from. For one thing, many U.S. retailers don't want the hassle of delivering internationally. Secondly, so many Canadian retailers are dragging their feet in creating online distribution, like Winners, Reitman'sSmart Set, and The Bay/Zellers/Home Outfitters (HBC.com doesn't cut it), to name a few big ones. When will these companies get their acts together?

    A(nother) New Blog is Born

Hello to my new shopping blog! Well, “online window shopping”, mostly. I look, I deliberate, I obsessively compare prices until finally, I make the purchase. Or abandon my cart permanently.

I guess I’ll post shopping finds here, as well as what I like, what I don’t like, sales, etc. I have another site, it’s a shopping resource (for Canadians, specifically), on which I’ll put more comprehensive infos. This, however, will be my informal testing ground, venting outlet, and place to get giddy and lose all composure.

Maybe I’ll eventually figure out this template system, too, and make the place fancy (or at least more personalized).
